We have often heard of Mother’s Day, but what about Father’s Day?
Fathers, as the primary agents of socialisation, are just as important as mothers in a child’s life. So, just like Mother’s Day is a chance to show your mom how much you love and cherish her, Father’s Day allows us to express our gratitude and love for our fathers.
But what gifts to give to your father? Cologne? A wallet? A fancy pair of shoes? If you’re looking for more personalised and home-made gift ideas as opposed to these ready-made ones, we’ve got you covered. Here are some interesting and easy-to-make gifts that will help you express your love and affection for your father!
1. Beer Bouquet
Beer. The tipple of choice of almost all fathers. Most men, whether they are fathers or not, love anything with a beer tag on it. So why not a bouquet of beer?
What you will need:
- Bottles of beer
- A Pack holder
- Coloured card stock
- Double-sided tape
- Wrapping paper
- Scissors
You first start with the floral decorations. You can choose the card stock based on your father’s favourite colours – blue, red or orange. Then, you can either hand draw roses on it or, if you suck at drawing, choose a picture online and then transfer it on the card stock with the help of a tracing paper. Once the drawing stage is done, cut the flower with a good pair of scissors. Repeat the same steps for the leaves.
Once you have both the paper flowers and leaves ready, you take the paper flowers, roll and stick them with a double-sided tape around the top of the beer bottles while you attach the leaves to the side of the bottles
.
The next step is the preparation of the pack holder. Use a beautiful wrapping paper to cover the pack holder and then finally place the beer bouquets in it.
There, you have your beer bouquet ready!
2. Tie-Shaped Bookmark
Whether your father loves reading books, newspapers or magazines, a tie-shaped bookmark is always an ideal gift for Father’s Day!
Materials you will need:
- Cards stock
- Old newspapers
- Scissors
- Paintbrush
- Liquid Glue
The first step includes downloading any free tie template found on the internet and printing it. It is recommended that you print the template onto the card stock itself. Once printed, with the help of a pair of scissors, cut it to obtain the tie shape.
Secondly, tear up pieces of old newspapers. This step involves lots of fun as you explore and tear down different sections of newspapers such as the crossword puzzle, horoscopes and sports page. Try to choose bits from different sections.
The third and final step is taking your paintbrush to put liquid glue all over your card stock tie and then placing the bits of torn newspaper over the card stock. Once the whole card stock tie is covered with newspapers, let it dry completely.
You can customise your tie bookmark by adding heart stickers or by drawing and writing small messages like ‘I love you dad’ with a black marker.
3. Moustache Mug
A fun, silly and cute gift for your father!
What materials you will need:
- A Mug
- A Sharpie Marker
- Pebeo Pen
- Pebeo porcelain gel
To start, take any plain and bright-coloured mug. Then, with a sharpie marker, draw a moustache on the mug. Next, you trace the drawn moustache’s sides with a Pebeo pen and then fill it with Pebeo gel. And, obviously, the final step is to let the drawing to dry.
To make it more special, wake up on Father’s Day morning, prepare a nice hot beverage and serve it to your father in his new moustache cup with some cookies. I am sure he will love it!
